To Blog Or Not To Blog?

So I was hanging with all the fellow homeschoolers at our recent get together at Chick-fil-a with the legendary Jake Box. As the others were all discussing their blogging, I was in between a few nuggets when Jake asked me why I don't have one? My answer was nothing new. I told him that it's just like Myspace; a black hole of time that can waste your life away completely and unless I have a following then it's really not worth it at all.

Of course this feeling resonates from my deep hatred for being part of a fad. Whether it be Ipods, Myspace, Starbucks, or Xbox 360, I (usually) can't stand doing something just because everyone else does. For the longest time, blogs have fallen into that category because frankly, unless someone else is actually listening, I'd much rather do something else that fritters my life away completely. But lately I've been having a change of heart on this whole blogging business. Jake promptly responded to my little speech by saying that I would have a following and after taking some time to look it over, I agree with him. We've got our own little blogging community here at TWO-14 and after a few long late night squabbles with myself, I've concluded that I want in. I've got opinions just like everyone else, but I tend to hold back in conversation and I'd like to provide an outlet for others to get to know me better, or at least for me to get to know myself.
I have a feeling that once I get into it, I'll find it very rewarding and honestly, I'll easily make it the best blog of TWO-14. But here's where you come in, as you will be crucial to the success of this little endeavor. If you want me to go through with this, I need you to let me hear it. I want some backing before I commit to this grunt* "hobby." (Don't you love how I started this blog on Friday the 13th) So lets hear it, how much do you want this? It's all up to you now. If I don't feel the love, this blog might unexpectedly find a toaster in its bathtub and alas, I will once again become an online introvert.

Hey Brian! Well, I must say... sometimes the most interesting blogs are the ones that come from people who "have opionions on things." That's where you come in. Not being lukewarm on issues can be used to your advantage. People will be more prone to read your stuff if they either strongly agree or disagree. So, don't fall into the trap of tepidity in the online swarm of information; shout out and let your voice be heard! I agree with colin - don't let us down! ;-)

I find it hard to take advice from a blogger telling me not to blog. Tell me in person, that might help.

Welcome my friend. You becoming a blogger is not the issue, sharing your deep secrets is really what it is all about. I can't wait to know you better than you know yourself. But I do want you to have realistic expectations here, there is no way your blog is ever better than mine. Face it. Though I do love your picture on your blog. 10 points.

Hey Box, why don't you have a pic?

Brian, two things. One, you and I share a common bond in that we like to throw fancy words in our writing-Faith tries, but we all know that no middle schooler can truely master the form of 'fancy-typing'. Second, welcome to this established community and together we can gang up on Box and rule the blogging empire...Or maybe just be online friends. Either way.

I don't exactly call it "fancy words," its more like advanced vocabulary. And be careful with that online friends business, you could end up on Dateline.

Your attempt at nomenclature is quite comic, but also pathetic and quite negligible Sean. I would expound on the inanity and ineptness of Brian's vocabulary, but his overall body mass exceeds mine, and I would like to keep my various limbs attached to my abdomen, and also the various organs working properly in said abdomen, so I will desist for the present.

You am smart. Gooood

I don't have a picture because I can't figure out how to do it. I am not as smart as you and Jake Franklin it would appear.

Hi Brian! How's it going? I think that you should have a blog because it is the way of communication in our youth group. I think that since you are a homeschooler you should have plenty of time to blog unlike me. I have almost no free time to blog so you should do it. Later!
